Clinical Experience

Bhavana is the director and principal physiotherapist at Advanced Hand Clinic. Bhavana qualified as a physiotherapist in 1998. She completed her senior rotations in the NHS, U.K. to become a specialist hand therapist in 2006. She was an accredited hand therapist in the UK. She moved to Australia in 2013 and worked briefly in Brisbane before moving to the Sunshine Coast. Bhavana worked as the clinical lead in the Hand Therapy Department at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital before opening her own private practice.

Her main areas of interest are managing conditions & injuries that affect the forearm, wrist and hand. She is also trained to manage patients following burn injuries and plastic and reconstructive surgeries of the whole body (e.g. skin grafts, breast reconstruction surgeries, burn injuries).

Bhavana has contributed as a director of the British Hand Therapy Association Executive Committee and on the Australian Hand Therapy Association Education Committee. Bhavana is active in clinical research in hand therapy, having worked as a research coordinator at the Brisbane Hand and Upper Limb Research Institute. She has several publications in peer reviewed journals.

Sheralyn Blanch

Clinical Experience

Sheralyn is an occupational therapist with experience in hand and upper limb rehabilitation. She graduated from the University of Queensland in 2011 and has since worked exclusively in private hand therapy practices in Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast. She is also a member of the Queensland Hand Surgery Society.

Sheralyn enjoys treating all conditions and injuries to the elbow, forearm, wrist and hand and particularly enjoys splinting and wound care.

Kristy Gerlach

Occupational Therapist – Practitioner in Hand Therapy

Clinical Experience

Kristy is an occupational therapist with experience in hand and upper limb rehabilitation.  She graduated from the University of Queensland and went on to complete a Masters of Science (Hand Therapy) from the University of Derby, U.K. She has worked both in the United Kingdom and Australia across both public and private domains of service.  Kristy has also worked as a lecturer in Occupational Therapy at the University of Sunshine Coast.

Her main areas of clinical interest include management of acute/chronic wounds, sports injuries and burns injuries.   However, she has a comprehensive history of working in many aspects of upper limb therapy including stroke rehabilitation, acute brain injury, surgical reconstruction and acute orthopaedic trauma.

Jackie Oldham

Clinical Experience

Jackie graduated as an Occupational Therapist in 1992 and first became a full member of the Australian Hand Therapy Association (AHTA) in 1995. Throughout her career, she has represented the AHTA on the national executive, as State Co-ordinator and as an invited panelist. Jackie has worked in public and private Hand Therapy clinics in Australia and England, including her own private hand therapy practice on the Sunshine Coast.

Phoebe Matters (nee Senior)

Clinical Experience

Phoebe is an occupational therapist with experience in hand and upper limb rehabilitation. She graduated from the University of the Sunshine Coast in 2019 and has worked in hand therapy since 2020 in the private practice sector. She is an associated member of the Australian Hand Therapy Association and is working towards gaining her full accreditation.

Phoebe is passionate about hand therapy and supporting her patients in their rehabilitation journey. She enjoys treating all conditions and injuries to the elbow, wrist and hand.
